Momatu is an ad free service that allows users to privately share photos and videos with their loved ones. With our free account (basic account), we provide our members up to 5GBs of free photo and video storage. 

Members that want to upload more than 5GBs can upgrade their account to Momatu Premium.

Momatu Premium FAQs

 What is Momatu Premium? 

Momatu Premium is a monthly or annual subscription service which our free account members can upgrade to at any time. Momatu premium users will enjoy:

  • Unlimited storage for their photos and videos. 
  • Easy self-service exporting for all of their photos and videos. 

As we improve the Momatu app, Momatu Premium members will enjoy additional features and functionalities not provided to our basic accounts members.  

How much is Momatu Premium?

There are two subscription options available for Momatu Premium: 

  • A monthly subscription of $4.00 (AUD) charged monthly
  • An annual subscription of $44.00 (AUD) charged annually

Can I keep using Momatu for free?

Momatu’s basic account members can continue to use Momatu for free forever. The only limitations basic account members will have is their 5GBs storage limit and restricted access to certain new functionality developed for Momatu Premium members. 

Is there a storage limit?

Yes. For basic account members it is 5GBs of photos and videos. Momatu Premium members can enjoy unlimited storage.

What happens if I hit my storage limit?

If you are a basic account member and you’ve exceeded your 5GBs of free photos and videos storage, you will be prompted to upgrade to Momatu Premium when you go to upload new moments. 

Existing photos and videos you’ve uploaded as part of your free 5GBs can still be accessed and shared.

How do I upgrade to Momatu Premium?

To upgrade to Momatu Premium, simply:

  • Open the Momatu app
  • Open the ‘Settings’ panel (left hand side of the screen drop down arrow)
  • You will then see a prompt at the top of the screen
  • Click on this prompt and follow all the instructions to upgrade to Momatu Premium

How do I pay for Momatu Premium?

We offer two easy subscription payments for Momatu Premium through Google Pay and Apple Pay with either a recurring monthly payment of $4.00 (AUD) or an annual payment of $44.00 (AUD) (or equivalent local currency).

How do I export all my moments? 

Momatu Premium users can easily export all of their photos and videos using the Export function. 

To do this simply: 

  • Open the Momatu app.
  • Open the ‘Settings’ panel (left hand side of the screen drop down arrow).
  • Look at the options in this page and find Export your moments and select this. 
  • Follow the prompts on this page. Your moments will now be packaged and emailed to you. This should take a few minutes but for those with over 10GBs of storage this could take up to 30 minutes. 
  • When your photos and videos are ready for download we’ll notify you by email and send you a one click link to download all of your photos and videos. 

Can I export all my moments if I don’t have Momatu Premium? 

Unfortunately you are unable to use the self service the export moments feature on our basic account. Only Momatu Premium members can access this functionality. 

Who owns the photos on Momatu? 

Your photos are your photos – and they always will be. For more information, take a look at our terms and conditions. If you don’t want to read through the legal terms, all you need to know is that we’ll never use your photos for anything, they are yours and not ours as we feel like your moments are the most private and precious moment you can have.

Are there any ads on Momatu? 

Good news – Momatu is ad-free so you can enjoy a private space to capture and share your moments without worrying about being interrupted by ads. 

How private is Momatu?

At Momatu your privacy is the number one thing. Which is why we don’t sell advertising or track your data to sell to third parties. To find out more, checkout our privacy policy here

How do I check my storage limit?

It’s easy! 

  1. Go to the settings tab on the left hand side of the screen and tap the drop down arrow. 
  2. Under your account name your total storage usage will be displayed here. 

What happens when I hit my storage limit but don’t upgrade?

You can keep using Momatu basic for as long as you like. You will still be able to share and comment on photos or videos you have already uploaded on your timeline. You won’t be able to upload any additional new photos of videos.

Can I cancel anytime? 

Absolutely you can. 

  1. Go to the settings tab on the left hand side of the screen and tap the drop down arrow. 
  2. Find the Subscriptions option tap this
  3. From this page go to the bottom of the page and select Manage subscription
  4. From there you’ll be taken to the management screen where you can select the option to cancel. 

 Please note if you have over 5GBs of photos and videos, once you cancel your Momatu Premium subscription you will not be able to upload any new photos or videos. 

I upgraded by accident – how do I cancel Momatu Premium and can I get a refund? 

As per our standard terms and conditions we are unable to issue any refunds on balances owed in arrears (e.g. refunds for amounts owed from prior months). However if you have accidentally upgraded or made a genuine mistake, please contact support@momatu.com straight away and we will do our best to assist you. 

Why do I have to upgrade to export my moments? 

Whilst we’d love to be able to give all of our amazing members the ability to export their memories for free, this has a significant cost to our business in terms of support and maintenance costs (we need to feed our server monkey, Harold). 

Therefore, we’re asking for your help to support these costs so we can continue to offer the majority of the Momatu app for free (and to feed Harold). If you find that you’d like to export your photos and videos as a once off, as an option you could upgrade to Momatu Premium for one month ($4.00 AUD) and you can easily export all of your moments anytime during this month. 

I’ve received my ZIP file. Why are there so many folders? 

Due to the nature of most email services the maximum file size we can send it 1GBs. Therefore, if you have 5GBs of data we have to send you 5 separate download links. 

What happens if I have more than 5GB of photos? 

If you have a Momatu basic account, you will not be able to upload any new photos or videos once your 5GBs of storage has been reached. You can continue to share and comment on any existing uploaded moments, however to add new moments you will need to either remove older moments or upgrade to Momatu Premium. 

General FAQs

How do I delete a photo that got accidentally added to my timeline? 

Oh no! Not to worry – it’s easy to remove photos and videos. Tap the photo you wish to remove and click the options menu in the top right corner. From here, you can choose to edit or delete the photo. 

Can I add moments from my computer?

Unfortunately not. At this stage, moments can only be added from your mobile device. 

Can I add journal entries on the web version? 

Unfortunately not. At this stage, journal entries can only be added from your mobile device. 

How do I delete a photo using the app?

It’s easy. To delete a photo or video, simply tap the one you wish to remove and click the options menu in the top right corner. Just select ‘delete’ and wave goodbye to the photo forever. 

How do I invite people? 

Your family and friends will love following your family’s journey as it unfolds. To widen your circle, hit ‘invite’ at the top of your timeline. From there, just enter the email address of someone special. Before you hit send, you can choose from ‘Can edit and comment’ or ‘Can edit’. 

Can I save photos once they’re added to a timeline? 

Yes, you can. Tap the image, and go to the options menu in the top right corner. From there, select ‘share photo’ and select ‘save image’ from the menu. 

How do I slot photos in between photos I’ve already uploaded? 

Time flies when you’re having fun – so if you forget to upload a photo when it happens, there is an easy way to do this. Select ‘Add’ to upload a photo or video to your timeline, and before you add it to our timeline, just change the date in the bottom left corner. When you hit ‘finish’, the photo or video will appear on your timeline at a date of your own choosing. 

How do I delete my account?

How many timelines can I have? 

You can own, collaborate or follow as many timelines as you wish.
